<!doctype html><html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8" /> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0" /> <title>The Queen of Fairies - Antagonists</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="book-page.css" /> </head> <!-- Contextual Header --> <div style="text-align: right; font-size: 0.9em; color: #777">193</div> <h1>ANTAGONISTS</h1> <h2>THE QUEEN OF FAIRIES</h2> <p> Titania is an atypical antagonist who might assume one of two symmetrical forms, the Queen of Midday or the Queen of Midnight, alongside their corresponding mischievous court. </p> <div class="rule-sections"> <p><strong>Form Changes and Rules:</strong></p> <ul> <li> If the characters challenge Titania, the fae monarch enters the fray as the <strong>Queen of Midday</strong>, accompanied by two Sun Poppies. </li> <li> When reduced to 0 Hit Points in either form, Titania uses the Dawn or Dusk special rule (see upcoming pages) to assume their opposite form. </li> <li> After each shift, Titania is considered a new creature in terms of rules, with full Hit Points and Mind Points, and no lingering status effects. Any and all spells that affected the other form end, and any symbol (see High Fantasy Atlas, <a href="/books/natural-fantasy-atlas/#page-148">page 148</a>) is removed. It’s possible to steal from them twice using Soul Steal (see Core Rulebook, <a href="/books/natural-fantasy-atlas/#page-203">page 203</a>), once per form. </li> </ul> <p> From the perspective of Titania and their court, our heroes are a form of entertainment, so a sacrifice is not available in this conflict, but it is possible to perform some deeds to gain the favor of the court (the amount of favor granted is shown in brackets in the list below). The Game Master has to reveal this information as soon as someone fulfills a deed but the full list must be kept secret. Each deed provides favor only once. </p> <p style="font-weight: bold; margin-top: 20px"> Deeds to Gain Favor (Favor gained is in brackets): </p> <ul> <li> <strong>Combo Breaker</strong> (+1). Titania cannot perform any action during their turn. </li> <li> <strong>Fourth Wall</strong> (+1). A Player (yes, a Player, not a character!) makes Titania laugh. </li> <li> <strong>Inconceivable!</strong> (+1). A PC wins an Opposed Check where Titania uses the bonus of <em>Aspect of the Queen</em> or <em>Aspect of the Huntress</em>. </li> <li> <strong>Insubordination</strong> (+1). A character with the Outcast Fairy Quirk (see <a href="/books/natural-fantasy-atlas/#page-125">page 125</a>) causes one of Titania’s forms to enter Crisis. </li> <li> <strong>Look Out, My Queen!</strong> (+1). A character uses the Protect Skill (see Core Rulebook, <a href="/books/natural-fantasy-atlas/#page-197">page 197</a>) to shield Titania from danger. </li> <li> <strong>One Hundred to Zero</strong> (+1). A PC reduces an enemy from maximum HP to 0 HP. </li> <li> <strong>To Persist is Human</strong> (+1). Titania has used both Weird Mind and Eternal Body. </li> <li> <strong>What a Boom!</strong> (+1). A PC brings two or more enemies to 0 HP in a single turn. </li> <li> <strong>Planned Defeat</strong> (+2). One Player Character surrenders. </li> <li> <strong>Spirit of the Underdog</strong> (+2).
