<h1>Bonds</h1>

<p>
|
|
Bonds are a source of power for our heroes. You already know that Bonds can
|
|
help improve Checks (<a href="/books/core/#page-47">page 47</a>) or aid allies
|
|
during Group Checks (<a href="/books/core/#page-50">page 50</a>), but some
|
|
Class Skills and even equipment effects will also benefit from Bonds.
|
|
</p>
|
|
<h2>EMOTIONS AND STRENGTH</h2>
|
|
<p>Each Bond may feature up to three emotions from the following six:</p>
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>
|
|
<strong>Admiration.</strong> You believe you have much to learn from this
|
|
person and deeply respect them for their efforts and achievements.
|
|
</li>
|
|
<li>
|
|
<strong>Inferiority.</strong> You envy this person or feel like you would be
|
|
powerless against them. Their very presence frustrates you, acting as a
|
|
reminder of your failures.
|
|
</li>
|
|
<li>
|
|
<strong>Loyalty.</strong> This person has won your trust, or you believe in
|
|
their ideals. You are ready to endanger yourself to help or protect them.
|
|
</li>
|
|
<li>
|
|
<strong>Mistrust.</strong> You don't believe the words of this person and
|
|
doubt their intentions.
|
|
</li>
|
|
<li>
|
|
<strong>Affection.</strong> You have tender feelings for this person, be
|
|
they a love interest, a dear friend, or a member of your family.
|
|
</li>
|
|
<li>
|
|
<strong>Hatred.</strong> You can scarcely control yourself in the presence
|
|
of this person, and would do anything to see them broken and defeated.
|
|
</li>
|
|
</ul>
|
|
<p>
|
|
The six emotions are combined into three pairings, and the same Bond may only
|
|
be connected to one emotion from each pairing:
|
|
</p>
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>Admiration or inferiority;</li>
|
|
<li>Loyalty or mistrust;</li>
|
|
<li>Affection or hatred.</li>
|
|
</ul>
|
|
<p>
|
|
For each emotion in a Bond, the strength of that Bond is increased by one (up
|
|
to a strength of 3 if you have an emotion in each pairing).
|
|
</p>
|
|
<p>
|
|
If you have the Dark Knight Belphegor among your Bonds and you feel
|
|
inferiority and hatred towards him, that Bond has a strength of 2.
|
|
</p>
